Happening comes to iPhone - and Sign in with Apple lands everywhere

Today was a big day in the Happening basement. This morning we submitted Happening to the Apple App Store for review, and this afternoon we shipped the release that has been the quiet goal all along: full feature parity across iPhone, Android and the web. Wherever your friends are, the app is the same app.

Happening on iPhone

The most requested thing since our Android launch, by a wide margin, has been "when's the iPhone version?" - usually from the one iPhone owner in a friend group who was stuck responding through the web page while everyone else got the app. The iOS app is now through the build pipeline and sitting with Apple's review team. The moment it's approved, it goes live on the App Store for iPhone and iPad.

It's the same Happening: create an event, share one link, watch the availability roll in, lock in the date. Invite links open straight into the app via Universal Links, and push notifications arrive when something actually needs you - a new invite, a confirmed date - and never for anything else.

Sign in with Apple, on every platform

Here's the part I'm disproportionately pleased about. Sign in with Apple is usually an iOS-only checkbox. We wired it into all three platforms today:

Email and Google sign-in work on all three as they always have. Whatever combination of devices your friend group runs, everyone gets the same one-tap experience, and the same account follows you between them.

Push notifications on both stores

Android has had push notifications from day one. iOS now has the same plumbing, verified end to end this afternoon. Our notification philosophy hasn't moved an inch, so this is worth restating: you get a push when you're invited to something, when a date is confirmed, and for the handful of moments where the app genuinely needs your attention. There are no streaks, no "your friends miss you", no re-engagement campaigns. A scheduling app that nags you is a scheduling app you delete.

Guests still need nothing at all

None of today's work changes the most important design rule in Happening: the people you invite never need an account or an app. The invite link works in any browser on any device, and tapping the dates you can make still takes about ten seconds. Apps are for hosts and regulars who want the nice things - push, faster flows, your events in your pocket. The link is for everyone else, forever.

What's next

Apple's review typically takes a day or two; we'll release the moment it clears, and if they bounce it we'll fix whatever they found and go again - that's the job. After that, the roadmap is the same as it was yesterday: listen hard, keep the core loop under a minute, and say no to anything that adds weight. If you've been waiting on the iPhone app to give Happening a try, this is your week.

PS - if you hit anything odd on any platform, support@gethappening.app lands in an inbox I personally read.
